The Turkish riviera status is just as high as the Spanish. Visit Alanya
Alanya is a historic, Mediterranean town in southern Turkey, situated more or less at the same level as the Spanish Costa del Sol. The town is surrounded by natural beauty with its long, golden beaches and clear, blue sea, and the magnificent, pine-clad Taurus Mountains as a breath-taking backdrop.
Alanya has approx. 150,000 inhabitants. The particular thing about Alanya is that the local council is very open to western investors and shows great responsiveness to the newcomers' wishes and desires for the development of the town and its facilities.
Alanya is very pro-western. The town presents itself as very well maintained and is growing rapidly. Alanya is surrounded by places of great natural beauty, and reeks of ancient history. There are numerous sights to visit, and the local people are both friendly and hospitable.
The nearest airport is Gazipasa approx. 36 km east of Alanya. The other airport in Antalya is approx. 135 km west of Alanya. During the last 10-15 years, Alanya has become one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe, and with very good reason.
To the east and the west lie inviting turquoise seas fringed by extensive, sandy beaches for as far as you can see. During the summer months, you will see children and parents playing in the sand, while others relax in the deck chairs, enjoying the sun and the heat.
Alanya boasts two fine beaches: The Cleopatra Beach and the Eastern Beach. Cleopatra Beach is considered the best with its more than 2 kilometer long stretch of golden, coarse sand and clear water. Here you find a good range of water sports, beach bars, beach volley, etc. Deck chairs and douche are also available.
The Eastern beach stretches approx. 22 km along the coast and has golden, fine sand and clear water. Also here, you will find plenty of facilities, and the sea is a little calmer and therefore more children-friendly.
In Alanya, there are ample opportunities for shopping all year. In the colorful bazaar, the amount of goods for sale is enormous, to say the least. Bags, shoes and other leather items are among the cheapest, especially if you know how to negotiate the price. Whether you are looking for a pair of summer sandals, a carpet for your dining room, jewellery, Christmas presents, clothing, spices or simply a small souvenir, you are sure to find it here. You should also make sure to visit Alanya's colorful Friday Market, where you can find all sorts of things.
On the harbor, along the main street and in the small, winding streets you will find loads of restaurants, with international and Turkish specialties, and of different price levels. Alanya has a bustling nightlife with multistoried night clubs, small cafés, sports bars, oriental belly dancing and local music open all night.
